Co- President

Bailey Hollingsworth

Republic of Moldova, M33, 2018-2020. Bailey is an aspiring Coverdell Fellow at the University of Arizona pursuing his Master in Public Health (MPH). He earned his undergraduate degree at NAU in biology with a minor in chemistry and practices as an EMT at Clinica Amistad in South Tucson. Bailey enjoys hiking, kayaking, and running and loves to play chess in his freetime!

Katy Tucker

Katy was a Community Health Volunteer in Uganda from 2012-2014 and completed a Peace Corps Response position as a Youth Development volunteer in Colombia from 2014-2015. She moved to Tucson in 2016 as a Coverdell Fellow in the Master's in Public Health Program at the University of Arizona. She currently works as a Research Specialist Senior at the UA College of Public Health.

Vice President

Susan Qashu

Susie served as a Natural Resources Volunteer in Argentina and Chile from 1993 to 1996. She has a BA in Mathematics and Latin American Literature and an M.S. in Marine Resource Management from Oregon State University. In 2004 she was the University of Arizona's first Returned Peace Corps Fellow PhD candidate (Today the Coverdell Fellow program). She is adjunct at Prescott College's Environmental Sciences Master's program and an Associate Research Scientist at the School of Natural Resources and the Environment.

Secretary

Chris Ortiz y Pino

Chris served as an Agriculture and Food Security volunteer in Nicaragua from 2012-14 and as a PCVL through 2015. After his service he attended the University of Arizona as a Peace Corps Coverdell Fellow where he received his degree in Urban Planning and Water Policy. In his free time you can find Chris on his bike or in his backyard learning how to be a DIY homeowner. Chris has been on the board since January of 2020.

Communications Chair

Callie Middlebrook

Callie served as an Agricultural Extension Agent in Madagascar from 2017- '18. She is a current MLIS student at the UA and works as an Administrative Assistant at the UA Eller College of Management. In her free time she enjoys embroidering, playing with her animals, baking, hiking, and reading. Callie has been with the board since January, 2020.

Treasurer

Michelle Landry

Michelle Racca-Landry was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Michelle served in Thailand as a Teacher Trainer-Community Outreach Volunteer from 2011-2013. In her primary role as an Education Volunteer Michelle taught grades 3-6 at two different schools in the northern province of Issan. She also served on the volunteer led committees of TYT-Thai Youth Theater, and an environmental education and awareness team “ROOT”. Michelle received her BA in Visual Art at McNeese State University and as a Coverdell Fellow at the University of Arizona she is pursuing a Masters degree in Art & Visual Culture Education. Michelle is proud of her Cajun (Acadian) Ancestry and enjoys cooking savory cajun dishes and playing cajun music with her family.

Dexter Gulick

Dexter is an RPCV from Madagascar ('17-'18), where he served as a Community Health Educator. He's currently finishing up his Master of Public Health at the University of Arizona. Dexter joined the Board in January 2021. In his spare time he's usually gardening or making silly music in GarageBand.

    • Term: One-year term

    • Responsibilities: Organize and preside at officer meetings and general meetings; oversee all activities of the organization including planning and publicity of Desert Doves meetings, service projects and event; prepare general meeting and officer meeting agendas; support other Desert Doves officers and committee members as needed; liaise between Desert Doves, University of Arizona Peace Corps Fellows, and the Tucson community; PCPP selection committee - review and present projects for vote by the general membership; Check and respond to messages within the group email account; Serve as the organization’s official representation with the National Peace Corps Association; Prepare annual activity report for the National Peace Corps Association; Signer on account at the Arizona State Credit Union

    • Responsibilities: Attend and participate in all officer and general meetings; Plan logistics for and coordinate volunteers for the 4th Avenue Merchants Association Street Fair fundraise; Coordinate other fund raising activities to benefit PCPP and other charitable giving; PCPP selection committee - review and present projects for vote by the general membership; Co-coordinate Desert Doves events, t-shirts, etc.; Most of the year, only requires 1-2 hours per month but during winter and spring street fair, may require 2-4 hours per week; Assume duties of president, when necessary

    • Responsibilities: Attend all officer and general meetings; Maintain and report on Desert Doves finances; Plan logistics for and coordinate RPCV International calendar sales; Prepare annual income and expenditures report for the National Peace Corps Association; Signer on account at the Arizona State Credit Union; Determine Peace Corps Partnership Project funding availability; Make PCPP donations on the Peace Corps website; Responsible for completing the form 990 (via the e-postcard) by 15 May of each year; Organize funding techniques that will aid in the long-term sustainability of the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Southern Arizona; Responsible for the rented Post Office box

    • Responsibilities: Attend all officer and general meetings; Record general meeting and officer meeting minutes; Distribute minutes to members via email and the Desert Doves website; Maintain group email account; respond to pertinent emails; Maintain and report on Desert Doves membership; Responsible for a second key to the Post Office Box rental; checks mail if the Treasurer is out of town for an extended period of time; Monitor Doves annual operating calendar including deadlines for annual memberships, 501c3, etc.; Coordinate annual NPCA membership renewal and activity report; Coordinate Desert Doves annual report


Social Committee Chair

    • Responsibilities: Attend all officer and general meetings, Plan logistics for and coordinate bi-monthly Ethnic Dinners, Prepare social events announcements for Desert Doves communications such as on the website and the Facebook page
